Rapa Takes Oran Park Raceway Success

Richie Rapa has taken out yet another brilliant Aussie Racing Car
win in 2008, this time
taking home first place honours at Oran Park Raceway (Narellan,
NSW) last Sunday in the first annual Need for Speed event.
Rapa driving the # 50 Fabre Australia / Red Line Oils supported AU Ford Falcon took home a solid victory in the final.
The Oran Park Raceway meeting was not a scheduled event for the Aussie Racing Cars Series, but with a racing drought over recent months they were given an opportunity to compete last Sunday in a non series point’s event.
“It’s been a while since we have raced and it was a good opportunity to get some valuable track time,” said Rapa.
Rapa had a good day of racing after he managed to capture a first, second and fourth spot in his three heat races.
Come final time Rapa started from the back of the field, as the fastest started at the back of the field, but it didn’t take Rapa too long to make his way into the lead during the 10 lap final and then go on to take the win.
“I was really happy to take out the win in the final, and another good thing about this win was that I was able to beat all of the series front runners, so it has given me a real boost in confidence for the remainder of the year,” commented Rapa.
The next event for Rapa will be on August 1-3 at Winton Moto Raceway in Victoria to contest for round four of the Aussie Racing Car Series.
Rapa is looking to take his car down for a test session run at the Winton Motor Raceway circuit prior to the upcoming round.
Rapa currently sits sixth in the Aussie Racing Car Series point standings.
